I get asked a lot about my wedding day and the mantilla that I wore, so I thought I'd share it with you! It was one of the best days of my life and don't mind talking about it every chance I get. :) When I got married, I was living in Ohio but getting married in Florida, where I grew up. Also, I'm Colombian and my husband is English. Since we had so many out of town guests I looked for venues in cities that offered plenty of entertainment for those coming from outside of the country. When it came to venues, these were my only specifications: A beautiful cathedral-like Catholic church and a swanky loft-like place for the reception. We considered Miami, Orlando, St. Augustine, Jacksonville but ended up finding exactly what we were looking for in Tampa. We were married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a GORGEOUS cathedral in the heart of downtown Tampa and had our reception in the upstairs loft area of the Lion’s Eye Research Institute. In case you didn’t know, when it comes to decor, I LOVE WHITES! I wanted my wedding to have sleek, modern lines with a touch of vintage charm. I wanted the colors to be crisp pewter and whites with a punch of coral. This is how we (my wedding army composed of my mom, my sister and I) broke it down: To bring in the coral, we did organic floral arrangements in an ombre of coral-colored garden roses and ranunculus. We used milk glass and white chiavari chairs to bring in the vintage charm and white accents. Finally, we created clean, modern lines with 2 buffet style tables for dining and topped them with pewter linens. With the help of my fabulous bridesmaids and close friends, we were able to nail my vintage-modern wedding vision right on the head!
